I am working on characterizing bacteriophage communities in the mushroom cultivation environment. Specifically, I am collecting samples of the casing layer from the Penn State Mushroom Research Center throughout the cultivation process, as well as pins and first flush mushrooms of Agaricus bisporus. The results from these time-series will inform the development of synthetic microbiomes to improve the cultivation process and reduce disease.
